In Honor of Popeye — The Dog Who Started It All
Popeye was the dog who changed everything for me.
He was mostly blind, scared of the world, and had been written off as “unadoptable.” I drove four hours to bring him home knowing very little about dog training, but determined to give him the life he deserved.
Popeye taught me about resilience, trust, advocacy, and what it means to truly show up for a dog. He ultimately changed the direction of my life and became part of the reason Hutter K9 exists today.
The Popeye Program is my way of honoring him by making training more accessible to adopted and foster dogs and the people who give them a chance.
Who Qualifies
Adopted & Foster Dogs
10% off training programs
Dogs adopted from a shelter or rescue organization, as well as dogs currently in foster care through a shelter or rescue, qualify for a 10% discount.
Proof of adoption or foster status may be required.
First Responders & Military
5% off training programs
Available to active-duty military, veterans, and first responders.
Skagit Canine Club Clients
5% off training programs
Available to current Skagit Canine Club clients.
Why It Matters
Hutter K9 was born out of rescue, but my greatest hope is to help keep dogs out of shelters in the first place.
Too many dogs are surrendered or returned because the people who love them simply don't have the knowledge or support they need to navigate life together.
The Popeye Program helps make that support more accessible—especially for dogs transitioning into new homes and the people willing to invest in their success.
Sometimes a second chance really can change everything.
How to Enroll
Start by completing the Training Questionnaire and indicate that you qualify for the Popeye Program when asked.
Eligibility will be confirmed during intake and the applicable discount applied when scheduling. No separate application is required.
