Day Train

Structured Training Days Without an Overnight Stay

Hutter K9 Day Train is designed for dogs who benefit from consistency, structure, and real-world training — without an overnight stay.

This program is best described as Board & Train by the day. Dogs spend the day in a calm, structured training environment focused on neutrality, fulfillment, and learning how to exist comfortably in the real world.

This is not daycare. Group play is not part of the program, and availability is intentionally limited to maintain a quiet, focused training environment.

Who Day Train Is For

Day Train is a strong fit for:

  • Dogs who need more structure than weekly private sessions

  • Dogs transitioning out of Board & Train

  • Dogs who struggle with overstimulation, stress, or lack of routine

  • Owners who want consistent training support while keeping their dog at home

Day Train is not a fit for daycare, dog-dog play, or quick fixes without follow-through.

What A Day Train Looks Like

Day Train runs from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and is intentionally structured to balance work, fulfillment, and rest.

Each training day may include:

  • Individualized training sessions

  • Learning to settle and relax on place

  • Neutral exposure to people and environments

  • Structured walks and real-world scenarios

  • Intentional downtime to practice regulation

Some dogs may also be introduced to foundational K9 Nose Work®, depending on their needs and goals. Nose work builds confidence, provides mental fulfillment, and channels natural instincts in a calm, structured way.

Dogs do not interact or play with other dogs. Instead, they learn neutrality — a skill that directly improves confidence, safety, and behavior at home.

Tools & Training Approach

Every form of training involves tools — even something as simple as a leash. Tools are a way to communicate clearly and meaningfully with dogs.

The tools used during Day Train are chosen based on the individual dog and training goals, with a focus on clarity, fairness, and long-term success at home.

Important Notes

A Private Training session is required prior to acceptance into Day Train

  1. Dogs must be comfortable resting in a crate (crate skills can often be developed through Day Train)

  2. Availability may vary based on Board & Train scheduling

Health & Safety Requirements

For the health and safety of all dogs in our care, the following are required prior to participation in any on-site training program:

  • Proof of up-to-date core vaccinations

  • A negative fecal panel completed within the last 30 days, including Giardia testing (such as a Keystone panel or equivalent)

Additional details and documentation requirements will be provided after intake and prior to scheduling.

Next Steps

Day Train always begins with a private training session. This allows us to assess the dog, the owner, and the goals to ensure the right fit and determine the most effective path forward.

Following that session, some dogs may be best served by Day Train, while others may benefit more from Board & Train or ongoing private training. Recommendations are always made based on what best supports the dog in front of us.
